For those of you who are unaware, I quit my teaching job of five years and opened Blanche Neige Daycare, a private home childcare environment. The daycare is named in memory of the most loving and caring woman and friend; my mom who passed away January 3rd, 2007. Your love is like the wind, I can't see it but I can feel it surround me every day!
Here is how my life brought me to this new adventure!
I have always loved children and dreamed of becoming a teacher so this is what led me on my college path to The Early Childhood Care Education program at Heritage college. I graduated in 1999. My first job in the field was at the Aylmer Cooperative Preschool which was so fun as I went there as a child myself. After one year, I realized that I wanted something more so I took on a real challenge by accepting a teaching job at The Ganon Preschool. This is a Jewish based school so I had to learn all about the Jewish religion and even some Hebrew for their celebrations. After only one year, the enrollment was low at the preschool and because I was the last to enter, I found myself on a new path yet again which led me to a whole new adventure which included having me return to school to earn my Montessori Teaching diploma. I took my training at Canandian Montessori Academy in their Casa Teaching program. I was hired on as a French teacher during the school year with a contract of three years to follow. I extended my stay for an additional two bringing my time with CMA to five years. I learned so much while I worked there. I developped life long friendships with many people over the years which I still maintain. I grew not only in knowledge and years but into the person I always wanted to be. I was sad to leave but knew the time had come for a change. After the loss of my best friend and mother in January 2007, I wanted a new direction for my life. Steve and I had been married for just over a year when we bought our first home which we adore. After only being in the house a few months, we decided together that we did have the room for me to choose a totally surprising new path for my life to take. With this being said, I made the decision to open my very own private daycare. This is a great way for me to get my life back while doing something I love, watching young minds develop and grow.
Enough about me, lets get onto the fun stuff and the whole reason for creating this blog, the children. I wanted to share all the fun things that we do during our day here at Blanche Neige Daycare. I hope that you enjoy what you see, feel free to comment and give any suggestions to help build a great foundation for the future!
